International Reaction to the Korean War and POW camps
Shortly after the Korean War started, both the United Nations and the United States got involved. Harry Truman, the president of the United States at the time, tried to to get the North Korean troops to retreat back to North Korea and China. The two nations promptly said no and ignored the US. Along with that, the North Koreans "agreed" to the Armistice Agreement. The North Koreans agreed to the Armistice agreement. Even though the North Koreans agreed to the Armistice Agreement, the North Koreans still did not follow the rules or laws where the North Koreans have to repatriate the captured soldiers back to their country. The North Koreans said that they sent all of them back to their country, but there were a lot of soldiers that "mysteriously" didn't return. The United States sent troops over to help the South Koreans. Most of them ended up being captured. Still, they continued to fight, losing many soldiers. The US were the only main group that got involved in this war, while there were probably others, the US were the most significant.
